About The Finger Server
The Finger Server was originally born in late spring of 1998 as Jedi Finger at JediKnight.Net. It was a hacked together set of scripts born from a great idea by Scott St. Jean.

Later on, JediKnight.Net decided to expand Jedi Finger to included several other gaming genres in the Star Wars universe and I decided to do an entire rewrite of the scripts to make it easier for me to port them to the new locations. At the same time, several people in the community also wanted to use the Jedi Finger scripts, so the rewrite for myself turned into a rewrite that would allow it to easily run on other unix machines and setups.

I have to admit, being my first go at this, I ended up making use of some excellent techices used by the author of The Ultimate BB. He has it together when it comes to writing a modular perl application with easy distribution and customization in mind.

About the Author
Daniel Beckham, originally from Birmingham, Alabama, but recently relocated to Cleveland, Ohio, where I do full time web design and perl development for Mortgage Information Services. I don't have any type of degrees or formal training, just a love for web design and perl. IMHO, the best programming language out there...
